How We Work

Our services generally encompass the research, writing, conceptualization, design, development and final production of your commemorative history product. Because of the multi-disciplinary process required to prepare our products, we can provide clients with a one-stop, end-to-end service. Occasionally, however, our clients already have a complete or partial history prepared. In these cases, we can incorporate this history into our chronicles verbatim, or edit or supplement the text, as needed or requested. Similarly, we are willing to utilize the in-house creative and design services of a client, if necessary, while our firm conducts the research and prepares the historical text. Outlined below is an explanation of our full-service process.

Phase One – Chronology Development
We generally begin with an in-depth research of your organization’s archives, written records, minutes books, photo repository, and similar material in order to prepare an accurate chronology of important events in its history. At this time, we can also determine whether your organization’s history needs to be further researched or supplemented due to missing or incomplete archives. Depending upon the extent of an organization’s archival material, this process generally requires at least one hour of research for every year that an organization has been in existence.
The chronology prepared during this first phase of research also provides the basis for the development of virtually all of the products that we offer, including commemorative history chronicles (such as coffee-table style books, magazine-type booklets and brochures); exhibits and archival displays; timelines; and visual presentations. Next, we thoughtfully select photos, documents, journal entries, correspondence, and other archival material to visually enhance and supplement the written history that we will prepare.

Phase Two – Development of Historic Narrative
Using the chronology established during the initial phase of our research, our writers can then prepare a thorough, informative and interesting historic narrative about your organization that documents the people, events and influences that shaped it, from its inception to the present. We then take the written history that we have prepared, and creatively blend this narrative with photos, artifacts, stories, sidebars and anecdotes to tell a story about your organization that gives interest and substance to the driving forces and personalities that spawned its creation, development and growth.

Phase Three – Creative Services and Design
While your organization’s history is being researched and written, our graphic designers will begin to develop a selection of designs for your commemorative product. Once this choice has been made, the design format selected will provide the creative backdrop for the presentation of your organization’s history. Our creative services span the entire development and production process, and include: the conceptualization and design of each commemorative product; the digitizing/scanning and computer enhancement of photos, documents and/or artifacts; the preparation of the final product for output; and acting as liaison with production vendors.

Phase Four – Production
The final phase of our service is the actual production of your commemorative product. During this time, we will carefully monitor and supervise the progress of your commemorative history product as it is being prepared by the production vendor (e.g., print and binding services, videographer, etc.). To assure your utmost satisfaction, we work with a team of experienced vendors who have a proven record of quality, service and dependability.
